Old Colony Council runs an Eagle Week program that provides a unique blend of provisional Summer camp, Eagle merit badge classes, and fun group activities. The purpose of attending Eagle Week is to complete a number of Eagle required merit badges and help your advancement toward completing your Eagle scout rank.
Above all, you will find this program to be a different kind of week than the regular camp experience and, you will have a lot of fun while you are here.
As soon as you register for Eagle Week, make sure to contact the Eagle Week Scoutmaster to schedule your merit badge classes.
The merit badge class schedule during Eagle Week differs from the regular summer camp program. There are four class sessions during the day--two in the morning and two in the afternoon. Scouts must register for classes during ALL four sessions.
If you select the Cycling merit badge, note that this class takes the full afternoon. Your schedule if taking Cycling will to be register for two classes in the morning and Cycling in the afternoon. For more information about required preparations and equipment this class, see the Cycling Info page. (Note that Cycling and Hiking are not offered every year.)
During the evening, all Scouts have the option of registering for the Family Life merit badge class or attending other evening activities with the troop.
Many of the Eagle merit badges require a great deal of writing and discussion. Come to Eagle Week with that in mind and be prepared to work on requirements until they are complete. For merit badges with "time requirements" (for example, "Keep a journal for 90 days" etc. ...), you will get a "partial completion", and you must complete them at home. All other merit badges will be completed during the week.
During this week the only Scouts in camp are those attending the Eagle Week or the Venture Week programs. Adults leaders attend to help run the program and stay in the camp site with the Scouts. There are fewer of the regular camp staff attending that week, because it is near the end of the camp season. Everything for for the Scouts attending is focused on Eagle Week. Activities in the afternoon and evening are set up for the full troop. Everyone attends and participates ... there are no options.
Scouts attend breakfast and dinner in Class A uniforms. During the remainder of the day and for all classes Scouts wear their Class B uniforms. Scouts working on the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge will take a field trip to the Cape Cod Canal Center on Thursday morning. Scouts on the field trip will wear full Class A uniforms.
For more information that you will need to be prepared to do your best at Eagle Week, read the Knowing FAQs page and Preparing for Eagle Week page.
